The state Department of Agriculture is continuing its fight against the bird flu impacting the state’s poultry population.
Known as Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, also HPAI, the disease has been curtailed since it had a significant impact in the state two years ago.
The state launched a recovery fund for poultry farmers that had their flock impacted by HPAI. It still has nearly $60 million left in reserves.
The department is also expanding testing capabilities and facility research to help curb the disease.
