State police recently released data that shows a year-to-year increase in the number of background checks for firearm purchases.
The quarterly report showed that over the last three months, state police conducted over 261,000 background checks in Pennsylvania. More than 4,100 people were denied buying firearms.
Both of those numbers show an increase compared to the 3rd quarter of 2024—which had over 251,000 background checks in total, with 3,7000 denials.
