Motorists could soon notice new features of State Police vehicles.
In an effort to improve visibility during traffic stops and emergency responses as well as enhance safety for both troopers and the public, State Police officials have revealed several upgrades.
The first is a distinctive V-shaped light bar that provides full 360-degree illumination, dramatically increasing visibility compared to straight line bars. The light bar also functions as another brake light during hard braking, an arrow board for traffic control, and a floodlight when necessary.
Parol vehicles will also now be equipped with a new 400-watt siren system that includes four speakers and a low-frequency Rumbler device which increases the emergency warning time for motorists to detect and respond to an approaching emergency vehicle. PA State Police will be one of only two law enforcement agencies in the nation with this capability.
