A bill in the Pennsylvania House is looking to increase fines for illegal dumping.
State Representative Donna Bullock says the bill is needed because there isn’t a community in the Commonwealth that doesn’t experience illegal dumping and littering.
“The folks who are doing the illegal dumping are not paying significant fines. In fact, many of them see it as the cost of doing business,” Bullock said.
Bullock cited a study done by Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful that found nine cities in the state spent a collective $68.5 million annually to address illegal dumping and littering.
