State officials are releasing data from this year’s Operation Safe Stop, which aims to promote school bus safety.
This one-day of targeted enforcement took place on October 22nd this year.
Participating agencies reported seeing 188 violations of the School Bus Stopping Law. That requires drivers in all directions to come to a complete stop at least 10 feet from a bus that has its red lights blinking and its stop arm extended.
State officials said this year’s number was an increase of 12 compared to last year, which saw 176 violations.
