The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue started 2026 with tax collections totaling nearly $4 billion last month.
Revenue from sales tax in January totaled $1.4 billion while personal income tax was $1.8 billion for the month.
The Motor License Fund received over $266 million for the month from gas and diesel taxes, as well as other license, fine, and fee revenues.
Total collections were nearly 5% more than anticipated or over $178 million over estimate.
