The Pittsburgh Steelers and linebacker T.J. Watt have agreed to a new four-year contract, which will make Watt the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. The deal begins this year, when Watt was set to earn $21 million, and will keep him under contract through the 2028 season. The package totals $144, more than $100 million guaranteed.
Watt is first in the NFL since the 2017 season with 108 quarterback sacks, and leads in quarterback hits, tackles for a loss and forced fumbles.
The $41 million per season bumps his annual salary ahead of Cincinnati receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Cleveland edge rusher Miles Garrett, who received record contracts in March.
The Steelers report to training camp in Latrobe next week.
