Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward was named the 2023 winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award at last night’s NFL Honors show. The award honors a player for on and off-field performance. Heyward is involved in numerous community charities, including his Heyward House Foundation. The award comes with a $250,000 donation to the charity of Heyward’s choice. He is the first Steeler to win the award since Jerome Bettis in 2001. A total of five Steelers players have now been honored: Franco Harris in 1976, Joe Greene in 1979 and Lynn Swann in 1981.
