The New England Patriots defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-14 Sunday in the Steelers home opener at Acrisure Stadium. The Steelers offense produced just 243 yards, two field goals, and just one offensive touchdown for the second straight week. Starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for 168 yards on 33 pass attempts. Najee Harris produced 49 yards on the ground on 15 carries. Head coach Mike Tomlin’s record against the Patriots fell to 3-9.
Steelers linebacker Devin Bush suffered a foot injury during the game and did not return.
The Steelers will visit the Cleveland Browns for a Thursday Night Football game this week.
Despite the Steelers loss, they are still tied for first place in the AFC North. The Browns lost to the New York Jets 31-30. The Baltimore Ravens fell 42-38 to the Miami Dolphins. The Steelers, Browns and Ravens are 1-1. Cincinnati lost to Dallas 20-17 to fall to 0-2.
Tonight there will be two Monday Night Football Games:
–The Buffalo Bills will host the Tennessee Titans at 7:15pm. The game will be televised on ESPN.
–The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Minnesota Vikings at 8:15pm. The game will be televised locally on WTAE.
