The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Miami Dolphins tonight at Acrisure Stadium. Kick-off is 8:15pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7:15pm. The Steelers will see the return of defensive lineman Derrick Harmon and tight end Darnell Washington from injuries for tonight’s game. They will be without star pass-rusher T. J. Watt.
The Steelers begin the night a half-game in front of Baltimore after the Ravens shutout the Cincinnati Bengals 24-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams became the first NFL teams to clinch playoff spots. The Broncos improved to 12-2 with a 34-26 win at home over Green Bay. The Rams defeated Detroit 41-34 to improve to 11-3. They are tied with Seattle, but currently have the division tie-breaker, giving them a playoff spot. The Seahawks will host the Rams in this week’s Thursday Night Game.
New England failed to clinch the AFC East and a playoff spot when they fell 35-31 to Buffalo Sunday. The Patriots fell to 11-3. The Bills are now 10-4. New England will visit Baltimore Sunday. The Bills visit Cleveland.
Several key players were lost to the season during games Sunday. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL as the Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs. Kansas City fell to the Los Angeles Chargers 16-13. Green Bay Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons also suffered a torn ACL in a non-contact injury during his teams’ loss to Denver.
44-year old Philip Rivers returned from retirement to start at quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts. He completed 18-of-27 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown in the Colts 18-16 loss to Seattle. He threw one interception, which came on his final attempt of the day. Both the Colts and Seahawks kicked late field goals in the game.
