Three Steelers defensive players did not practice Thursday. Cornerback Artie Burns with a knee issue sat out. Also sitting out were defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt and Javon Hargrave.
Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell told ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler Thursday in an interview that he would rather sit out next season or retire to avoid playing under a franchise tag. The Steelers placed Bell under the franchise tag this season when they failed to finalize a long-term contract. He is being paid more than $12 million.
The Oakland Raixders are being accused of violating the “Rooney Rule” with their hiring of new head coach Jon Gruden. The rule maintains that a minority candidate must be interviewed for a new head coaching job. The NFL is investigating.
