The Steelers and linebacker T.J. Watt agreed to a new four-year contract extension Thursday afternoon that will make him one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL. The deal is reported to be worth more than $112 million, with $80 fully guaranteed.
In the NFL season opening game last night – Tampa Bay defeated Dallas 31-29 as kicker Ryan Succop hit a 36-yard field goal with two seconds remaining. Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady threw for 379 yards and four touchdowns, in his 300th regular-season start. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 403 yards and three scores in his return from a severe ankle injury that ended his 2020 season after just five games.
The Baltimore Ravens were hit with more season-ending injuries in practice Thursday, losing Gus Edwards and cornerback Marcus Peters to torn ACL’s. The Ravens have lost three running backs in the preseason.
