Michael McDowell won the Daytona 500 early this morning after the race was delayed by rain for nearly six hours. It is McDowell’s first victory in 358 Cup Series start. He was in position to take the victory after another last-lap crash that was triggered by teammates Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano when they were trying to set each other up for the win.
Defending champion Denny Hamlin led the most laps and won the first two stages of the event, but failed in his bid to win his third Daytona 500 in a row.
