The Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 last night to win their first World Series title. The Rangers went a perfect 11-0 on the road during the post-season and won the best-of-seven series with Arizona 4-1. Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before the Rangers broke the scoreless tie with a run. They would add four runs in the ninth inning.
Texas shortstop Corey Seager joined Reggie Jackson as the only players to win the Series Most Valuable Player award with two teams. Seager won the MVP with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Rangers reliever Will Smith became the first player ever to win three World Series rings in a row. Smith was with the Atlanta Braves when they won the title over Houston in 2021. He was with the Astros for their series title over Philadelphia last season.
Former Pirates catcher Austin Hedges was traded to the Rangers during the 2023 season and wins a series ring with the Rangers title.
