Today marks one of the busiest travel days of the holiday season.
AAA is projecting over 55 million people will travel more than 50 miles from home for this Thanksgiving. In the Mid-Atlantic region, an expected six million will drive by car and another 650,000 will be flying.
If you are hitting the road, this afternoon is projected to be the busiest time on the road. AAA say the worst travel time is from 2-6 p.m.
They suggest hitting the road either before 11 a.m. or early tomorrow morning.
This Thanksgiving is third-highest travel forecast since AAA starting tracking holiday travel in 2000.
