There have now been over one million cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic according to the latest update from the state Department of Health.
The milestone comes 12 months after the first reported case in Pennsylvania. It also comes at the Keystone state closes in on 25,000 total deaths due to COVID. The official death toll is 24,917 according to the DOH.
Locally, there were 33 new COVID-19 cases and no additional deaths for Butler County Thursday.
As of Wednesday morning, Butler Memorial Hospital was treating 15 patients for the coronavirus, with four COVID patients in the ICU.
Statewide hospitalizations are also continuing to trend upward, with more than 1,700 now receiving treatment for the coronavirus.
