Sports Illustrated named Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady its 2021 “Sportsperson of the Year” on Tuesday. It’s the second time Brady has won the award, after previously doing so in 2005 after winning his first three Super Bowls in four years. This time it comes after a 2021 in which he won his seventh Super Bowl in February It was his first season with Tampa Bay after two decades with the New England Patriots. Continuing in 2021, Brady is leading the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns this season, and is among the favorites to be named the league MVP.
Veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had hip surgery Tuesday, ending his season with the Washington Football Team. The 39-year old Fitzpatrick suffered a hip dislocation in the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. The injury may end the career of the veteran of 16 NFL seasons.
