A vehicle crash on Interstate 79 involving a horse trailer earlier this week resulted in human as well as equine injury.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday for a collision on I-79 North near exit 78 Route 228.
Crews from Adams Area were among those responding to the scene to find at least one person injured as well as several horses entrapped.
A portion of the northbound highway needed to be shutdown while crews worked to free the horses. An equine veterinarian was contacted but the condition of the horses is unknown at this time.
