A local municipality is moving forward with a project to improve traffic conditions after having been awarded state grant funding.
In 2023, Butler Township received nearly $250,000 for signal modernization at the Route 8 and McCalmont Road/Vogel Road intersection.
At their meeting earlier this week, Commissioners accepted a bid from Bronder Technical Services to accomplish the work for just under $300,000. Butler Township will cover the nearly $50,000 difference between the grant and the project cost.
This project is expected to get underway in May of 2026 and take approximately four or five months to finish. Grant funding is received from red light violation fines with a goal of improving regional safety.
