A couple events are going on out at Moraine State Park the rest of this week.
First, on Friday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. the Park Naturalist will lead a Salamander Safari outside the Davis Hollow Marina Office on the North Shore. This activity will include a 15 minute walk to Davis Hollow Creek so sturdy shoes should be worn for the walk but water shoes should be brought for the stream. Participants should also bring bug spray.
Also on Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. a program about bats will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Visitors can see a bat condo in action and learn about how reporting bat activity can help scientists. Those planning to attend should bring blankets, chairs, flashlights, and bug protection. The restroom facilities at the church will not be open.
