The Butler Transit Authority is taking measures to ensure that all riders pay required fares.
At their meeting Tuesday evening, Authority Board members approved a revision of the Code of Conduct Policy dealing with fares.
Bus drivers will be provided with notices to be given to riders who cannot or will not pay the full fare amount saying that they have three days from that point to pay the shortage at the terminal. If not, their riding privileges will be suspended for increasing durations depending on the number of offenses. Those who refuse to abide by the policy could face trespassing charges from police.
The new policy will begin with a two week period in which warnings will be issued to riders who refuse to pay full fare. The new policy will be posted on each bus so that all riders are familiar with the changes.
