The Butler Transit Authority is revising a policy in order to better accommodate riders who are transporting items while also formalizing the extension of a weekend route.
The Authority’s board of directors approved a minor change to Code of Conduct Policy that allows the transportation of travel carts that will be sold by the Authority at their downtown terminal for $10. Previously riders with multiple large bags were denied entry as the bags blocked the isles and endangered safety.
When buses running Route 1 on Saturdays were too full in the spring, the authority added four additional service runs on Saturdays using Route 5 which follows the same stops as Route 1 in reverse. After a six month trial period, the Authority has decided to keep the Route 5 bus on Saturdays along with two more runs in the early afternoon.
