The Butler Transit Authority has sold some assets in order to purchase and make repairs to others.
One of the items sold on an online auction platform for just over $16,000 was the Trolley Bus that has been used in local parades over the past several years. According to Authority Executive Director John Paul, that bus has been out of regular service for over two years and is also over four years past its useful lifespan.
The authority also sold a four post lift for nearly $20,000. Combined with some money from earlier vehicle sales, the authority will put nearly $40,000 towards a piece of equipment needed to recycle water in the bus wash as well as a bus engine repair.
The Authority will still need to spend about $12,000 from their operating funds to make up the difference in cost between items sold and repairs necessary.
