The Butler Transit Authority Board of Directors has offered support for a Butler Township plan to secure state funding to improve a local intersection.
The Township recently applied for a $2.8 million grant from PennDOT to realign the roads at the entryway to the Picklegate Bridge and provide a traffic light for improved access to Transit Authority property.
The Township requested a letter of support from the Authority and named them in the grant application since the project would improve access for Transit Authority buses.
According to Authority Executive Director John Paul, this is a project he has been advocating for a long time.
“I commend them for trying to get this issue resolved,” Paul said. “I’ve been working for 21 years for trying to get something done at that location.”
This project would aim to provide greater safety at the intersection by aligning the entrance to Pullman Business Park with Whitestown Road.
