Part of the Butler Transit Authority’s marketing and communications plan for the upcoming fiscal year will include the ability to accept credit and debit cards.
The plan to allow for cards to be accepted involves the purchase of two terminal readers at a total cost of $600. The authority would be charged a fee of 2.6% of the total plus 10 cents for each transaction.
Another part of the plan is to allow for the increased use of the Token Transit smart phone app through the purchase of seven local bus beacons at a total cost of $4,200. This would allow both the rider and the Authority staff to save time and money.
The objective of these moves is to improve customer experience and increase ridership through customer-friendly technology resulting in convenience and increased satisfaction. These new options along with an update of Authority GPS maps are expected to take place sometime around July 1st.
