The Butler Transit Authority is continuing to move forward with a plan expected to result in changes to bus routes and schedules.
After PennDOT approved a three-year demonstration project based on the recommendations of a transit study last month, the Authority has entered into an agreement with nationwide engineering consultant Whitman Requardt and Associates in the amount of $130,000.
PennDOT will pay for this process which includes public outreach on several dates and locations still to be determined. This project will not affect commuter service offered by the Authority.
The Authority also plans to purchase two 36-foot CNG Replacement Buses for local service from Gillig expected to be received in the fall of next year.
No changes will be made to local service until at least a year from now.
