Efforts by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission to restock trout into state waterways are currently underway.
This year’s stocking in Butler County began around noon Wednesday with rainbow and golden trout added to Glade Run Lake near the dam. Additional stocking will take place over the next several days at Harbar Acres Lake, Buffalo Creek, and Slippery Rock Creek.
Stocking is beginning two weeks earlier than normal this year to ensure that most waters will be stocked before Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day on March 27th, followed by the opening of Trout season April 3rd.
Normally volunteers help distribute the trout, but that is not possible as a result of ongoing restrictions connected to COVID-19. For more information, visit the Fish and Boat Commission website or mobile app.
