The Turnpike in Cranberry Township was shut down early Friday morning in a work zone after an accident with several vehicles.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center shortly before 12:30 a.m. for accident involving two tractor trailers near mile marker 25 in the west bound lane on the turnpike.
The crash happened near a work zone as the tractor trailer attempted to merge at the last second while approaching the work zone, according to official documents. The tractor trailer in the right lane was going the speed limit and was the hit by the trailer attempting to merge.
There were no injuries in the crash and a parked vehicle in the work zone was also damaged. The driver who attempted to merge was cited for carless driving.
The turnpike was reopened after just over two hours.
