Butler City Council will be electing two members in the municipal election and voters can decide between three candidates.
Democrat Daniel Herr is running for reelection after being appointed to the position in February. He took over when Bob Dandoy moved from council to the position of Butler City Mayor.
“I figure with all the stuff we have going on right now that I’ve been in the middle of, I’d like to continue on and see some of these things through,” Herr said.
Former Butler City Mayor Republican Tom Donaldson is also running and he believes he still has a lot to offer.
“I enjoy working for the public. I enjoy working with the public,” Donaldson said. “I despise politics, but I like public service. And I feel like I still have things that I can contribute to that.”
Finally, Independent Troy Douthett who is a political newcomer and Butler City construction worker is running for the first time.
“It’s just my time to contribute. I’ve been doing handy man jobs around the City for 30-plus years and I’ve gotten a chance talk to everybody and see what everybody is interested in,” Douthett said.
Voters will be able to choose two out of three candidates.
