Two Butler County students have received an award for their artwork that expresses concern about littering.
The Litter Hawk Youth Award asks students from kindergarten through sixth grade to create an art project about concerns of littering.
The winning artwork will be displayed through April 30 in the Main Rotunda of the Pennsylvania Capital building.
Butler County second grader Lili, won the first place for her grades project and Butler County second grader Maddie, won second place for her project, both posters. Over 500 projects were submitted.
The theme for this year’s project was “Join the Greatest American Cleanup! Show how you can keep your community litter free for America’s 250th birthday.”
This program is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and all winners were invited to attend a ceremony honoring the litter Hawk Youth Award winners in Harrisburg.
