Two people are facing charges after they allegedly stole and resold cooking oil.
Police charged 18-year-old Victor Martinez Peralta and 23-year-old Jeremick Rodriguez both of Reading for stealing $1,400 in cooking oil from Hardwood Cafe in Penn Township on July 30.
The two men allegedly loaded the stolen oil into a rented truck and then sold it to another man in Reading for $200.
When the two men spoke with police they both admitted to the scheme. A third man with the two men stealing the cooking oil has not been identified by police.
Rodreiguez and Peralta have both been charged with theft and criminal conspiracy. They are both awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 2 in Butler County.
