Two seats on Butler City Council have been decided by city residents during yesterday’s general election.
Republican Donald Shearer was the top vote-getter as a Republican with just over 30% of the total votes cast. Shearer ran as a write-in candidate in the primary election this spring and received enough votes to appear on the ballot Tuesday.
Democrat Larry Christy also secured a four year term on Council with nearly 29% of votes cast. Christy spent 10 years as the Butler Township Fire Marshal before retiring in 2018.
They will take over in January for Council members Jeff Smith and Kenny Bonus who decided not to run for reelection.
