A major employer of a community in neighboring Armstrong County has announced plans to close a facility.
UFP Industries has confirmed that the plant in Parker will be closed over the next two months.
According to a company spokesperson, this action is being taken in order to maximize operations across over 200 facilities owned by the company. 20 to 30 Parker employees will be offered positions at other regional facilities such as Shippenville as well as relocation assistance.
UFP purchased the facility in 1997 and has been operating it for the last 28 years.
