UPMC announced they are ending gender-affirming care for those 18 and younger by the end of the month.
Officials say the move is in response to new federal guidance by the Trump administration, which said that healthcare facilities that provide care like puberty blockers and hormone therapy are subject to criminal prosecution.
UPMC officials add that they will continue with behavioral health care that is “within the boundaries of the law.”
