Pittsburgh-based healthcare provider UPMC is laying off about 1,000 employees.
According to officials, the job cuts are mainly among administrative and non-clinical positions.
It comes as the healthcare industry faces financial challenges post-pandemic. All three major health care systems in Western Pennsylvania reported operating losses last year.
Officials with UPMC say those being laid off will receive “enhanced severance pay and benefits coverage.”
