A decision on the Herman Post Office has not been made but according to officials from Summit Township, they believe Postal Service is closing in on an option.
After the landlord of the current Post Office in Herman said he will not renew the lease, the search for a new option started.
There are three current possible options: adding a mail route for the 40 residents in need, using space at the Herman Volunteer Fire Department, or a Cluster Mailbox.
A Cluster Mailbox is a metal box with slots for P.O. boxes.
“We don’t want the Post Office forgetting about us,” Roxann Stickney, Zoning Officer for Summit Township, said. “We feel like we’ve been forgotten about because we’re just a small town in the big scheme of things.”
No timeline on a decision has been announced.
