The Pennsylvania Department of Health has provided an update on measles cases in Pennsylvania including vaccinations.
The DOH reports on Wednesday that 31 new measles cases have been confirmed since Monday.
In total, over 1,300 people have been infected, 251 people have been hospitalized, 43 counties have at least one reported case, five people have had a measles-associated death, and four vaccinated people have been infected, but that makes up less than one percent of cases.
Nurses with the state’s Department of Health have administered over 10,000 doses of the measles vaccine to residents so far this year. This total does not include an even larger number of vaccinations administered by health care providers.
Health officials advise everyone over the age six to be fully vaccinated with both doses to drastically reduce chances of hospitalization. More information can be found online through the state website’s Measles Dashboard.
