The victim in yesterday’s fatal crash on Route 422 was just weeks away from retirement at a local paper.
65-year-old James Barge of New Castle was killed by a suspected drunk driver on his way home from working in the printery at the Butler Eagle.
The accident happened around 1:15 a.m. on Route 422 near the intersection with Unionville Road in Franklin Township.
Police say 24-year-old Kassandra Clyde of Fombell crossed the center line and hit Barge’s vehicle. Police say homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence charges are pending.
Barge had been a longtime worker in the printing industry, previously having been with the New Castle News.
