A local organization is offering the opportunity to learn about defending against sexual assault and intimate partner violence at a class this weekend.
A self-defense class for women ages 14 and older made possible by the Victim Outreach Intervention Center or VOICe will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Butler YWCA.
Trained advocates will lead this hands-on workshop that includes pairing up for practice scenarios so participants are encouraged to attend with a trusted partner, friend, or family member that can be a man. Refreshments will be provided.
Those who bring a gift card to donate to the Victim Outreach Intervention Center will be entered into a prize raffle. The cost to participate is $5 and registration is required through the VOICe website.
