Bubba Wallace and Austin Cindric won the Daytona Duel qualifying races last night. The twin races set the field of 41 cars for this Sunday’s Daytona 500. Wallace drives a car for 23XI (23-11) racing co-owned by basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and driver Denny Hamlin. Cindric drives for Penske Racing.

Reigning X-finity Series champion Justin Allgaier earned the lone “open” available spot for Sunday’s race. His car is owned by siblings Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his sister Kelly. The field will also feature 49-year old four-time Indy 500 champion Helio Castroneves, who had to take a provisional entry after being involved in an early crash in the first Duel race of the night. He enters via a provisional under a new rule Nascar has put in place to include a 41st driver in the field that is of “world-class” talent
Also in the starting field Sunday will be past champions Jimmy Johnson, who will drive a car he owns and Martin Truex, Jr. will drive despite retiring from full-time competition. Both made the field based on their qualifying speeds.
