There were 21 new COVID-19 cases reported in Butler County over the weekend.
That brings the total to 556 cases according to the state Department of Health. The department also says Butler County saw a slight uptick in the positivity rate. Last week, Butler County recorded a 4.7 percent PCR positivity rate; that’s an increase from a 4.2 percent rate the week before.
Public health experts say a positivity rate higher than 5 percent is cause for concern.
As of Friday afternoon, Butler Memorial Hospital was treating three patients for the coronavirus, with one in the ICU.
Overall, the state reported just under 2,000 cases this weekend and 17 new deaths.
