Former Pitt and Central Catholic star football player Damar Hamlin is in critical condition in a Cincinnati hospital after suffering a cardiac event during the Buffalo Bills-Bengals Monday Night Football game. Hamlin, a defensive back for Buffalo, had just made a hard tackle when he went down. The game was suspended after he was taken to the hospital.
The Pittsburgh Steelers kept playoff hopes alive with a 16-13 victory over the Baltimore Ravens during the Sunday Night Football game New Year’s Day. Rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett led the Steelers on a game-winning drive in the final minute for the second consecutive game. He completed 5 of 6 passes for 64 yards on the game-winning drive. The Steelers rushed for 198 yards, the most ever against the Ravens in the Mike Tomlin era. Najee Harris rushed for a game-high 111 yards. Jaylen Warren added 76 yards.
The Steelers host the Cleveland Browns Sunday at 1pm. They need a win combined with Miami and New England losses to become the final AFC Wild Card.
