A sports agent with many ties to players from the NHL and Pittsburgh Penguins has passed away. Western Pennsylvania native Steve Reich passed away Sunday while playing golf with friends at South Hills Country Club.
The 64-year old Reich was a Chartiers Valley high school graduate who went on to earn a law degree from Pitt. He followed in the footsteps of his uncle Tom, who represented Sammy Sosa, Ken Griffey Jr. and Dock Ellis, into a sports management career.
Over more than three decades he represented Mario Lemieux, Tom Barrasso and Ron Francis of the Penguins. More recently, he had negotiated a deal Vincent Trocheck, another Western Pennsylvania native, with the New York Rangers.
