William Byron won the pole for this Sunday’s Daytona 500. Byron led a Hendrick Motorsports sweep of the top four times in qualifying, with Alex Bowman earning the outside of the front row for the Great American Race. Both will lead the dual qualifying races for the 500 Thursday.
Jimmie Johnson wrecked leader Paul Menard and went on to win Sunday’s exhibition Clash race. The race was shortened by rain soon after Johnson turned Menard causing a chain-reaction crash which eliminated most of the field.
The NHRA Winternationals were hampered by persistant rain in Pomona, California Sunday. They will resume at 10am today.
