The election is now less than a week away, and state officials are offering a few reminders for voters.
Governor Tom Wolf spoke yesterday and said people should be prepared to not hear a final result next Tuesday night.
“Pennsylvanians may not have results that we need on election night in every county. It may take longer than usual to finish counting votes,” Wolf said. “But the number one priority in the Department of State, and counties, is to make sure that each ballot is counted accurately and securely.”
Secretary of the Department of State Kathy Boockvar, who oversees the election, says the importance of an accurate election is what could cause the delayed results.
“All of our first priority is, and should be, to count every ballot accurately. And then after that, accurately as quickly as humanly possible,” Boockvar said. “And I can’t say strongly enough, that every election official across the Commonwealth agrees with that.”
The application deadline for a mail-in ballot expired yesterday.
