Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has signed an executive order designed to keep residents in their homes during the ongoing public health crisis.
Wolf extended an order to block foreclosures and evictions through August 31st. That order originally was set to expire today.
Various state agencies are taking action to help homeowners and renters such as the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, who is now accepting applications for mortgage assistance using funds from the federal CARES Act.
Wolf noted that this action does not remove the need for people to make rent or mortgage payments. Those who are struggling to make payments should contact their landlord or mortgage servicer immediately. This order does not apply to situations of property damage or illegal activity.
