A Butler woman is facing charges after stealing over $1,500 worth of gift cards from her non-profit job.
Police were contacted by someone from the Tri County Workforce Investment Board after they found clients from business were not getting funds from gift cards. After doing further investigating, the person discovered purchases for over $1,500 that were made at Walmart and Sheetz.
After contacting Walmart, security was able to identify 40-year-old Lori Dofner of Butler as the suspect. Dofner was employed at Tri County Workforce Investment Board where she would have had access to a spreadsheet with all the gift card information.
Dofner was interviewed by Butler Police and admitted to having access to the spreadsheet and spending the money. The money was transferred to her cash app from the card where she was then able to spend the money.
Dofner was charged with access device fraud-use of another’s device without authorization.
