A Butler woman accused of attempting to burn her home down while her children were inside has pled guilty to several misdemeanors.
Last June, police were called to a home on the 300 block of North Chestnut Street in Butler for a mother attempting to set her home on fire.
When officers arrived on scene, they could hear cries for help in the attic. When they opened the door, they found 37-year-old Tanya Richter and her two children.
Richter was taken into custody and police say she continuously kicked and bit officers. According to police, Richter started the fire after one son left the home.
She was charged with 10 felonies and five misdemeanors and yesterday she pled guilty to the five misdemeanors. She was sentenced to 66 months on probation and will have to pay $3,147 in fines and fees related to her prosecution.
