WPIAL High School Basketball Playoffs:
Boys:
–Butler defeated Norwin 59-46 in the 6A First Round. The Golden Tornado outscored Norwin 39-20 in the second half. Devin Carney led Butler with 23 points. The Golden Tornado will travel to Penn-Trafford Friday. Hear that game on WBUT beginning at 5:50pm.
–Seneca Valley upset Mt. Lebanon 72-54. Connor Lyczek netted 24 to lead the Raiders. Seneca Valley will travel to Upper St. Clair Friday.
–North Allegheny won their first playoff game in six years with a 45-41 victory over Central Catholic. N.A. will travel to Fox Chapel Friday.
–Pine-Richland defeated Peters Township 79-67. The Rams will visit Hempfield Friday.
All of the games will have a 6pm tip-off.
Tonight:
–The Mars Boys will host Franklin Regional at 6pm in the 5A First Round.
Girls:
–Knoch defeated Hopewell 69-33 in the 4A First Round. Hattie McGraw led Knoch with 17 points. Madilyn Boyer had 16 and Nevaeh Ewing added 15. Knoch will host Blackhawk Friday for a 6pm tip-off. Hear the game on WISR beginning at 5:45pm.
–Freeport fell 38-31 in overtime to Mt. Pleasant, ending the Yellow Jackets season.
Tonight:
–Butler will host Hempfield in the 6A First Round. Tip-off is 6pm. Hear the game on WBUT 1050am, The New 97.3fm and wbut.com beginning at 5:50pm.
–Seneca Valley will travel to Mt. Lebanon.
–North Catholic will host Brownsville at 6pm.
