The New York Yankees swept their two-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates following a 14-2 win last night. Rookie Roansy Contreras struck out 10 Yankees, but allowed six earned runs on six hits over 4-2/3rds innings and took the loss. Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge did not hit his 61st home run in the game, but did have two hits, both were doubles.
The Pirates have returned home and will open a four-game series with the Chicago Cubs tonight at 6:35pm.
With the Altoona Curve season now complete, several Pirates prospects have been promoted to Triple-A Indianapolis for the stretch run of their season. Former #1 draft pick Quinn Priester made his Triple-A debut Wednesday and pitched five innings allowing two hits and two walks while striking out six. Endy Rodriguez, who has made a rapid ascent through the Pirates organization, went 3-4 with 4 RBI’s.
